O God of Justice, as you bring light to dispel the darkness of night, remove too the darkness that seems to hover over our country. Help us to restore relationships Father, to value life and respect those who are weak, poor, vulnerable and unable to care for themselves. May I never become so comfortable with my possessions O God, that I fail to recognize those at my doorstep in need of my help. May I never become so arrogant, that I believe I don’t need others, or worse, I don’t need You. Humble me Father, that I may see your face in everyone regardless of who and what they are. And when at last my day is done, reunite me O God with your Son, who died for us all.
